Domesticality- curated by Moran Been-Noon. 04 – 23 February 2019

Domesticality is a group exhibition that challenges the traditional notion of the domestic as it is perceived in light of our contemporary everyday reality. The term, Domesticality, represents a confrontation between “domestic” and “reality”. The exhibition aims to be relevant to  those living with intellectual disabilities, with the view of home-living raising questions of independence, support, and community.
The work is rooted in the meaning of the term as a comforting routine in a permanent residence, with each piece proposing a different critical view of the term that reflects the current practice of “home-living”. Domesticality offers an inclusive viewpoint, with work contributed to both abled and intellectually disabled artists, giving agency within the field to voices and narratives that are not often included in the independent art world. The idea of domestic is thus represented differently, attached to objects, politics, and economies rather than permanent routines or places.
