In the performance created for Vox Magicae, Cecilia Bullo explores her ongoing concerns on gender violence and ecofeminism through esoteric invocations, mixing punk music with Sumerian compositions dating from 2000 BC. To achieve this, Bullo engaged directly with Sumerian texts with the assistance of Professor Martin Worthington at Trinity College Dublin and with PROJECT collective, consisting of iconic Irish punk band PARANOID VISIONS founder P.A. (aka Peter Jones), legendary musical terrorist Stano and Kaz from post punk/pre grunge duo Vulpynes..
For this live performance at Vox Magicae ritualistic spoken words in ancient Sumerian are performed by the artist while engaging with the audience in a collective sculptural experience.
